Dr James Wethasinghe (Respiratory Physician) - NZ Asthma Guidelines 2020 and COPD-X

Dr. James Wethasinghe (MBChB 2010, PGCertCPU 2015, FRACP sleep 2018, FRACP General Medicine 2020) is an Auckland trained Respiratory Specialist. Born in Sri-Lanka, he has had all of his formative education in New Zealand. He is dual trained in Respiratory and Sleep Medicine and Acute General Medicine.

James is currently working as a Respiratory and General Physician in North Shore and Waitakere Hospitals, where he cares for a wide range of patients with General Medical and Respiratory diagnoses. He is actively involved in the development of the Waitemata District Health Board Sleep Service. His research interests are broad and he has published in the fields of: Sleep, Interstitial Lung Disease, Atypical Infection and Non-Tuberculous Mycobacteria as well as Pleural Malignancy. Since 2018, James has been actively involved in formally teaching RACP candidates and is a honorary lecturer at the University of Auckland.

Kai-Shek Luey QSM (ACCC Chairman) - Poll Tax

Born in Westport, Kai Luey graduated from university as an electrical engineer. With a career spanning over 30 years as a corporate executive and CEO of international public companies in New Zealand, Australia and Thailand, Kai has held many leadership positions in the Chinese community and his current positions are:

  • Chairman of Auckland Chinese Community Centre Inc

  • Chair of Chinese Poll Tax Heritage Trust

  • Life Member of New Zealand Chinese Association Auckland Inc

  • Honorary Member of New Zealand Chinese Association Inc

  • Life Member of Wellington Chinese Sports & Cultural Centre Inc

In 2005, Kai was awarded the Queen’s Service Medal for services to the Chinese community.


This event is open to all doctors. Non-ACMA members are welcome to  attend the CME at $50pp. (Membership is $125 for the first two years for  all new members)
